Participation in the «Composites without Borders» forum

On 22 October 2020, the 8th Composites Without Borders Online Forum was held on the universal industrial platform Innoprom.

At the forum site, international and Russian experts, representatives of state and regional authorities, heads of major corporations and development institutions discussed the possibilities of integrating the Russian composite market into the world agenda and the use of advanced materials in various industries.

Victor Avdeev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UNICHIMTEK Group of Companies, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology and New Materials of Moscow State University, spoke as a representative of Institute of New Carbon Materials and Technologies at the panel discussion «Science and Education, Startups - the Basis for Russia's Technological Leadership in Composites» held as part of the Forum. In his speech he recalled the mission of modern universities, which is to put forward strategic ideas, prepare teams to implement these ideas and create high-tech business based on these ideas. Avdeev noted that today universities are ready to actually participate in the creation of industry, but the bottleneck remains the issue of personnel. To address this issue, a joint program of Lomonosov Moscow State University and Mendeleev Russian State Technical University has been established to train technologists in the field of composites.

As part of the «Composites without Borders AWARDS-2020» ceremony, ITECMA (part of the UNICHIMTEK Group) won the «Leader in Composite Import Substitution» nomination. A complex of composite materials for automatic laying was presented at the contest, which included a carbon tape RoboLen and a composite binder T-26. The ITECMA materials system completely replaced imported analogues in the production of composite wing for the MC-21 airplane. The material surpasses foreign analogues in a number of characteristics.
